A MESSAGE FROM DR.SATCHEL

Covid-19 Announcement

Colbert County Schools wishes to assure our school communities that plans for student meals are currently being formulated with an emphasis on convenience and safety.  We continue to get minute-by-minute updates and guidance from the Alabama State Department of Education that assists us in making our best plans.  Exact details will come when logistics have been finalized.  Your patience and kindness are appreciated.  Parents who wish to keep their children at home beginning Monday, March 16th, are welcomed to do so and student absences will be excused up until statewide school closing on Thursday.

However, Monday -Wednesday, we will serve hot meals and have computer devices available to check out.

We will not worry about mid-term exams at this time.

As always, thank you for keeping safety a priority.

Important Announcement

📢A letter from Dr.Mackey📢

Superintendents,

Under this state of emergency, please excuse any students who are absent from school Monday, March 16, 2020 through Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Expecting high absenteeism, we will be seeking a waiver on attendance for these days for accountability reasons.

Working with the local superintendents in some communities, we have already closed some schools beginning Monday based on potential enhanced threat of exposures in those schools. If you feel like you need to close schools, you have that authority under the executive order, but please notify me as quickly as possible if you do so.

Thank you for your continued diligence,
Eric G. Mackey
State Superintendent of Education
